If I were (President) Edgar Lungu, I would start mending my relationship with the people I have offended, United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema has said.
And Hichilema says it is utter ignorance by Justice Minister Given Lubinda to think of confiscating his passport in an effort to curtail him from telling the world about injustices in the Front(PF) regime with technology around.
Briefing the press at his New Kasama Mansion, Hichilema said President Lungu better start making up with people he has offended because his days in State House are numbered.
The UPND leader said President Lungu has created many enemies within and outside PF because of his cruelty, therefore he should use his remaining time in power to make up with them.
He said instead of making peace with the Zambians his government has condemned to abject poverty, the President is issuing divisive statements like the one on judges in Solwezi recently.
“If I were (President) Lungu, I would use my remaining time in power to make up with people I have offended. President Edgar Lungu has offended a lot of people. I cannot speak for myself, so many people are in prison on trumped up charges, the police have wrongly gunned down innocent citizens(Mapenzi Chibulo) the UPND petition was not heard after the results were stolen and many Zambians have been subjected to abject poverty because of rampant theft by his government. These are people he should say sorry to,” Hichilema said, ” (President) Lungu has provoked many people within and outside the Patriotic Front. Look at what happened to Chishimba Kambwili at the memorial service of late President Michael Sata. How can his cadres behave like that at the memorial service of their late leader, yet he(President Lungu) is quiet. Chishimba Kambwili like any other citizens has rights to move freely.”
And Hichilema says it is Impossible for anyone to stop him from communicating to the rest of world about the breakdown of rule of law in the PF regime.
Hichilema said grabbing his passport as a way of caging him from talking to the rest of the world about Zambia’s poor governance system will not work because information is moving like bush fire with the coming in of social media.
Hichilema said ith technology, he his message can be streamed from anywhere to reach every quarters of the Earth.
“Those of you who watched my interview on Hard Talk, I was very measured. I did not speak the way I am speaking right now. I knew such things would be raised. Steve(Steven zSackur ) even told after the programme that ‘I failed to break your spirit, others cannot manager to be on that hot seat,” Hichilema said.
