Natukwata ichichetekelo ichakwebati nangu five years iyi yashala takwakabe ukushupikwa pantu ba honourable ba Anthony Mumba bale twandapa sana pamala, (We are confident that will not be facing problems in years to come because our MP cares for us), says Mufulira’s Mupambe Compound resident Abidan Mutolo.
And Mr Mumba who is Kantanshi law-maker says while some argue that free handouts should be discouraged,it is important for people to share whatever they have with those who do not have during independence celebration because it is a day that unites the country.
Speaking after Mr Mumba reached out to his electorates, when he gave out a 25KG bag of Meali-meal to each household of Mupambe Compound , Mr Mutolo said the Kantanshi Constituency residents are lucky to have a father and caring leader.
He said Mr Mumba’s passion for work and generosity is worth emulating by every Member of Parliament.
Another resident Maggie Musonda thanked Mr Mumba for the gesture.
She said it was gratifying that the MP never forget the people that voted for him.
Grace Chiluba said Mr Mumba has stood out among his predecessors because in the last one and half years he has been Kantanshi MP, he has done what most of them failed to do while serving in office.
“Ifwe tuletotela ba honourable besu pafyo batuchitila. Apo apashilipakuleka. Bonse ama MP tuvotela tapaba abatuchitalapo ife. Awe ba honourable nabampanga ichisugishi,” a resident said in bemba loosely translated as( We would like to thank our MP for what he has done for us. Non of the MPs we have voted for in the past has done what honourable Mumba has done. He has really done wonders).
Another resident Margie Banda said Mr Mumba’s re-election in Kantanshi Constituency in the 2021 elections is assured.
“Awe naine ndetotela ba honourable pafyo batuchitila. Lesa alebapala. Balanda ati umuntu nipamala. Olo ama elections aya leisa bakapita,” she said, translated as( I want to thank our MP for what he has done for us. May God continue blessing him).
Mupambe residents received Mealie Meal as a way of celebrating Independence.
Each household today received 25 kg bag of Mealie Meal which has been given to them by their area MP.
Mr Mumba said he was giving out the staple food as a way of celebrating Independence with the people.
And the lawmaker said while one might argue that free gifts should be discouraged, it is important that people share what they have with those that are deprived.
“Now that we have economic independence, we need to focus on the economic opportunities this country has to offer. Also as leaders, we need to take time to care for the needy in the community. Yes one can argue and say free gifts should not be encouraged but independence is a special time. As you have rightly put it, unity is important and self retrospection is important and as a leader of Kantanshi community, I am supposed to take time to reflect and see how best I can be useful to my masters who gave me an opportunity to represent them in Parliament. This is just a small gesture. We shall continue pushing the agenda of bettering our people’s lives,” Mr Mumba said.
