UNFPA to hold family planning symposium

Government, United Nations Population Fund(UNPA)and Population Council will on the 5th July jointly host family planning symposium at the Radisson Blue in Lusaka.

The Symposium whose theme is family planning saves lives: Accelerate Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights is being held as a precursor to the World Population Day and Family Planning Summit being held in London on 11th July 2017.

The convening of the symposium is in recognition of Zambia’s continued commitment to the global, regional and national discourses around family planning through Family Planning 2020.It is also being held on the occasion of the second visit to Zambia by Julia Bunting Obe, President of Population Council who will be attendance.

The Symposium will be a scientific event during which research findings will be shared. These will include results of studies that were facilitated with support from UNFPA and the Zambian Government.

The symposium will also bring together key stakeholders from reproductive sector, HIV and adolescent health practitioners as well as programme and research communities in the country.
