The 2016 Presidential petition must be heard- Dante Saunders

Political Activist Dante Saunders says the United Party for National Development (UPND) and Patriotic Front(PF) will only reconcile after the petition brought forward by the former is heard and reaches logical conclusions.

Speaking in an interview with Kitwe Times, Saunders said dialogue between President Edgar Lungu and president Hakainde Hichilema  without the courts hearing the petition will amount to nothing.

Catholic Bishops led by His Grace Telesphore Mpundu have made positive steps towards setting up a dialogue meeting between the two bitter rivals.

The Catholics visited Hichilema who has become the first politician to step into President Kenneth Kaunda’s shoes after been detained at Mukobeko Maximum Security Prison in Kabwe.

However, reports indicate that UPND strongman told His Grace Mpundu that all  he wants is justice to prevail and his petition heard.

His Grace Mpundu told Journalist after reporting back Hichilema’s message to President Lungu that Zambians should be a little bit patients with the seed of dialogue the Catholic Church has  planted.

But Hichilema insists he does not want short cuts to his freedom.

When reached for a comment, Saunders said Zambia has had many dialogue meetings and very few have produced tangible results.

” We just want the petition brought forward by Hichilema and his deputy Geoffrey Bwalya Mwambato to be heard to set a precedence towards cleaning our electoral process, “Saunders said.

Lol- you failed to present evidence and delayed- you wanted the Petition to fail so that you can sell the idea that Zambia is a failed democracy. You were a few numbers short. Accept and move on. If you tell anyone that HH gathered more votes than Edgar Lungu, no one would be convinced. HH is not popular in Lusaka and Copperbelt.
