The Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) leader Sean Enock Tembo(SET) has noted with happiness, that Catholic Bishops under the umbrella of Zambia Conference for Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) will be meeting United Party for National Development(UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema this Friday at Mukobeko Correctional Facility to kickstart the dialogue. “However, the question that we would like to ask is whom will the dialogue be between?
. Will the dialogue be between PF and UPND? Will it be between PF and Mr. Hichilema? Will it be between Government and UPND? Will it be between Government and Mr. Hichilema? Will it be between President Lungu and UPND? Will it be between President Lungu and Mr. Hichilema? Or will it be between UPND and Mr. Hichilema on one hand and PF, President Lungu and Government on the other hand?” Tembo wondered.
He said these pertinent questions are being asked because PeP believes that clearly identifying the parties to the dialogue is a cardinal matter which requires to be properly addressed from the onset if the dialogue is to bear any meaningful fruits.
Tembo added that As PeP, believes that in order for the proposed dialogue by ZCCB to succeed, the starting point is to have as few parties to the dialogue as possible, saying in this regard, the party believes that the best model may be to have the dialogue between President Lungu and Mr. Hichilema and for the ZCCB to allocate not more than 3 representatives to the proposed dialogue.
” Apart from the question of who the parties to the dialogue will be, there is also the issue of what the objectives of the dialogue will be. Our expectation as PeP is that the dialogue will not only address existing political tension but will go further to address its underlying causes.
All in all, we wish the Zambia Council of Catholic Bishops all the best as they engage on this mammoth task. As PeP, we are also hopeful that this will mark a turning point in terms of our political dispensation as a nation,” Tembo said
