Zambia Direct Democracy Movement (ZDDM) president Edwin Sakala has distanced himself from opposition leaders denounced Zambia Conference of Catholics’ Bishops (ZCCB) Church Telephore Mpundu following his remarks that Zambia is now a confirmed dictatorship.
Sakala said in an interview with Kitwe Times that as a mark of respect, he chose to remain quiet on the matter. He said he is Catholic and he has respect for Archbishop Mpundu whom he cannot answer even if he is wrong.
“I did not attack His Grace Archbishop Mpundu because I am a Catholic. There is no way that I can be seen fighting with Archbishop Mpundu even if I don’t not agree on certain issues because he is my spiritual father,” Sakala said
He said it was unfair for some section of society to call Archbishop Mpundu names for merely expressing his opinion.
Said Sakala: “People must express their opinions freely. His Grace was merely expressing his opinion. He thinks there is a lot of tension in the country. There is nothing wrong with that.”
