Farmers Told To Stop Cheating

Southern Province Agriculture Coordinator (PACO) Dr Max Choombe has warned farmers against defrauding Agro dealers by swiping their cards twice when getting farming inputs.

Speaking when he appeared on Tuesday evening, Choombe said his office is aware that there are farmers who are getting the inputs twice at the expense of others who have not received their farming implements.

Choombe explained that the system has a loophole which government has already rectified.

He warned that punitive measures will be taken against any farmer who swipes their card twice thinking that government has deposited some more money.

Dr.Choombe added that Agro dealers will lose out as government will not be able to pay twice.

And speaking on the same programme, Musika Development Initiatives Operations Manager – Southern region, Enock Siankwilimba revealed that the activation process of Electronic Voucher system that took so long has led to farmers not to get their farming inputs in time.

Siankwilimba was however quick to mention that over 80% of the distribution process has been done across the province.
