Lungu Not Eligible To Stand In 2021 -Munshya

“President Lungu first ran for the presidency under the Constitution of 1996 in 2015 and that was a full term which terminated in 2016.

That which was a presidential term under Constitution 1996 is still a term under the Constitution of 2016.

Constitution 2016 cannot retroactively cancel that which was regarded as a presidential term under Constitution 1996.

Constitution 2016 does not automatically make Mr. Rupiah Banda eligible to two more presidential terms, just as it does not make Mr. Edgar Lungu eligible to run again in 2021.

If we followed the logic that the Constitution 2016 retroactively makes Mr. Lungu eligible, we would have no law and certainly no constitution.

It would mean that any president can then each year push through constitutional amendments that make them start afresh and remain in power indefinitely.

President Lungu assumed his first presidential term under a constitution that stated clearly that he could only run one more time and not two more times. He knew what he was getting himself into.

He should not be misled by “amanone” of the presidential Mercedese Benz.

In 2021, His Excellency must vacate the office and respect the Constitution of 1996 under whose wings he first flew to Nkwazi House.”

Lungu is not among Zambias cream of lawyers for if it were otherwise we’d have heard a lot about him and cases he prosecuted or defended and won! All we know is about him stealing a widows entitlements and arguing that paying it back and Sata (MHSRIP) reprieving him from LAZ punishment had absolved him of having stolen in the first place! Now that he has tasted sweetness of being the most powerful individual in Zambia he can interpret the Constitution whichever way he wants albeit his shortcomings at law as a lame-duck lawyer!

Munshya must go back to grade 1 and start afresh.Maybe his perception and assimilation of issues could mature.HH and GBV know tHat ECL is eligible to stand that is why they have left the topic to dull chaps like,Proud,Coilard,Misheck,Kajili ,Munsya and all those backward thinkers.Take time to assimilate the full contents of the constitution.

He stands or not. Will it change anything about your life. You get ruffled by another mans accessing authority or not. Just go into your army worm ridden field, plant and harvest. I’m so over politics and politicians. The last time I voted was the last time I will ever vote.
