A man of Chief Kalasa’s area, who has been sued for defamation of character by a fellow man, narrated before the Mansa Local Court how the defendant allegedly sent him to steal threads from his ex-wife’s chitenge so that he could make a charm to make her love him again.
The court heard this in a case in which Lucky Mwape,36,has sued Temson Mwenya,31, for defamation of character.
Mwenya alleged before senior local magistrate Christopher Nkandu, who sat with magistrate Godfridah Kasonde, that he was sent by Mwape to steal threads from his ex-wife’s chitenge so that he could make concoctions to make her love him again.
Mwenya narrated that in August this year, he was living with Mwape after going on separation with his wife Juliet Chitalu.
He said Mwape later refused to fulfil his promise of giving him K1,000 for the service he rendered to him of stealing the chitenge from his former lover.
“Mwape promised to give me K1,000 for the job I did for him but he has never paid me,” Mwape narrated.
The court heard that Mwape also hired him and three other men to monitor his ex-wife to see if she was going out with other men.
Mwape said Mwenya has not given him the money he worked for and that it is the reason he sued for defamation of character for hurling insults at him.
And Mwenya said Mwape accused him of practising witchcraft and pleaded with the court to order him to compensate him.
The court adjourned the case for judgement.
